Common questions
What does Taimaa do?
Taimaa is a Toronto-based advisory firm for early-stage startups. We help founders design a viable business model, build a monetization and pricing strategy, prepare for fundraising, and plan go-to-market and scale.
Does Taimaa take equity for its consulting services?
No. Taimaa's core advisory Services are fee-for-service with no equity taken. Equity only comes into play through the separate MVP Program, a small, optional investment offer for select founders.
What is the Taimaa MVP Program?
The Taimaa MVP Program is a small, angel-sized equity investment — not a lead round or a fund — paired with hands-on advisory, aimed specifically at helping a validated idea become a working MVP.
Is Taimaa a venture studio or accelerator?
No. Taimaa doesn't run cohorts, operate startups internally, or take large ownership stakes the way venture studios or accelerators do. The MVP Program is closer to angel investing: a small check, plus direct, ongoing advisory involvement with one founder at a time.
How does the MVP Program compare to a government startup grant?
Most Canadian "startup grants" — including Futurpreneur (up to $75K) and the CSBFP (up to $1.15M) — are actually loans that must be repaid. True non-repayable grants at the idea stage are narrow and small, such as Ontario's Starter Company Plus ($5,000). Taimaa's MVP Program is comparable in scale but is an investment, not a loan — no repayment, no bureaucratic eligibility process, and it comes with direct, hands-on business-model and go-to-market involvement rather than a training curriculum.
Where is Taimaa based, and who does it work with?
Taimaa is based in Toronto, Ontario, and works with early-stage founders across Canada and internationally.
